HB 2233 CHANGED SECTION 1802.052(a) AND REMOVED THE REQUIREMENT THAT A PERSON MUST NOT HAVE HAD A FELONY CONVICTION WITHIN THE PREVIOUS FIVE YEARS, IN ORDER TO OBTAIN A LICENSE. THIS CHANGE GOES INTO EFFECT SEPTEMBER 1, 2019. TEXAS HAS OTHER CRIMINAL CONVICTION GUIDELINES AND CHAPTER 53, OCCUPATIONS CODE TO HANDLE A PERSON’S PAST CRIMINAL OFFENSES, AND THIS SECTION WAS IN CONFLICT WITH THAT OTHER LAW.
